If you live or visiting Providence, Rhode Island this weekend, then go see the pumpkin carving display at Roger Williams Zoo. There is a theme for the carvings, which is television since 1950’s. – 2000. There are familiar television characters carved into the pumpkins. There is also carved pumpkins that are hanging from the trees. The display is really spectacular and if you can go see it. Another activity is the lit up Swan Boats.
Almost Famous was a cult movie that has now been brought to Broadway. The story is about a 15 year old boy who gets a chance to write for Rolling Stone Newspaper. His assignment is to travel with a rock group. He learns about traveling on the road, what it is like to be a rockstar and becomes friends with the groupies that follow the band. Classic rock music is played throughout the show and original songs that were written for the show.
This past Sunday Oct 23, I went to see a concert that honored David Bowie. This was not a tribute band, but a group of rockers that played Bowie songs. The most recognizable was Todd Rundgren of (Saw the Light) fame. The show had a lot of energy and was incredibly entertaining. If this show comes to your town, this is a definite should go activity. Do a google search to find where they will be playing.
Restaurant Recommendations
Valerie – Is a fairly new restaurant in the Broadway district. It has a very lively millennial crowd at the bar. I came to eat and was happy to find that our table was in a back room away from the noise. The food is American cuisine with an inventive menu. If you decide to go,I would suggest to make a reservation.

Enzos – This is my favorite Italian Restaurant. It is on Williamsbridge Avenue in the Bronx, not to be confused with the one on Arthur Avenue. They have all the classics, but they also have original delicious dishes. I love the chicken balsamico. Those of you that go to the Bronx should definitely try it.

Nadine’s- Is in Yorktown Heights, NY. I was looking for a restaurant that served German fare. I. wanted to celebrate Octoberfest before October was over and I came across Nadine’s. They serve a German cuisine throughout the year, not just for October. I had Weiner schnitzel, mashed potatoes, cucumber salad, pierogis and apple strudel. They have specials and some other varied cuisine. If your in the area, this is a definite restaurant to go to.
