Going to Kansas City

On my way home from another adventure, I was speaking with a woman. She was telling me about her past visits to her cousin in Sardinia. I was envious of having relatives in such a geographically desirable location. She laughed when I told her, my cousin lives in Kansas City. The joke is on the both of us.I visited my cousin and was surprised to find that KC is a fun place to visit

My flight from LaGuardia Airport in NYC was only two hours., This was my first experience in the updated LaGuardia which services domestic flights. The renovation includes many shops, new restaurants and comfortable seating areas. In Terminal B, there is a water feature that comprises two 25 foot tall circular rings of falling water. The visual is intriguing to the eye with its colors and 3D images. Once called on par with a third world airport, LaGuardia is now a modern transportation hub, making flying more pleasurable

Quick flight, nice airports on both ends, things could look up. My cousin, Dawn, planned two music events for our long weekend. The initial was at the Uptown, which is a 95yearold theater with beautiful decor. We went to see two OG rock groups. Jefferson Starship was up first, singing all their hits and some new songs. All About Time lyrics compliment advances in society and point out mistakes in our past. The performance was engaging and got the audience up and moving. Grand Funk Railroad was next. Instrumentally they were still good, the vocals not so much. However, we had an excellent night. I even drank canned wine. It wasn’t bad

Saturday was very active. There was an extensive craft fair in the town of Overland. There were many examples of original offerings that made this event. There was a large turnout and shoppers seemed to keep the vendors busy. A lady’s got to eat, so we headed to The Peanut for a bar style lunch. A lady’s got to drink, next stop the Tavern, a bustling sports bar

Later, it was time to head to Brookside. This area has quaint shops, One such shop is The Corner Candle shop. The fragrance when you walk in is effervescent. Dinner was at Bella Napoli, which, coming from a New Yorker, has authentic Italian food

Helzberg Hall, KC Missouri

Another night of music, this time we were going to hear a unique mix of the KC Symphony with the Tower of Power. The structure of the Helzberg Hall, designed by Moshe Safdie/ Safdie Architects., is a beautiful modern building. To enjoy the mélange of soul and symphonic tunes in this stylish edifice was a special experience

Weston, Missouri

Sunday, we took a pleasant drive to Weston, Missouri. Weston is a delightful town with lovely boutique shopping. The Celtic Ranch is a spiritual store, Cactus Creek offers clothes, jewelry, gifts and specialty food, and Back Roads Art that carries unique artworks by metal artists, wood carvers and Native American tribes. If you love small, interesting shops, then Weston may be your spot

Patrick Mahomes, KC Chiefs QB

Since it was Sunday, the streets were full of NFL fans wearing their KC Chiefs gear. Being a sports fan, I am envious of Kansan for having the Super Bowl champs as their team. To worsen it, they were playing the New York Jets. However, my cousin’s friends tried to soften the losing blow. All the people I met during this trip had been kind. There will be no trepidation when I tell you I’m going to visit Kansas City.    So, whatthehellonline.com even if your cousin doesn’t live in KC, you should go.
