After being scammed by the Romanian gypsies I have spent two months straightening out my bills. This fraudulent act just keeps on giving. AlthoughI was proactive in changing my account information it almost seemed like It was a waste of time. Once an established auto-pay is closed, you can’t just open another auto pay account I corrected. twelve accounts, before I learned this. The companies want you to pay the next bill with a separate payment vehicle and then you can start a new auto pay. I am still getting failure to pay emails frequently, but I believe this torture is coming to its final act.
During this period my elder Jack Russell, Jax was limping. Brought him to the Veterinarian and he took X-rays and blood work. Nothing in the testing stood out, so Jax was given pain meds, and we went home. Within the week his shoulder was perturbing, since the X-rays previously showed nothing, I was feeling maybe a dislocated shoulder was causing the limping. I thought I would try a homeopathic vet and investigate physical therapy. A referral was required, but I did not receive it and now I am leaving on a vacation.
My two friends who live in Florida were staying in New York after the holidays.and would stay a week in our home while we went on a cruise. We boarded the Sky Princess on Saturday January 6. Sunday January 7, we got a call from my friends that Jax tripped on the back steps. Blood and pus were coming out of his shoulder. He was being rushed to Greenburgh Veterinary Hospital. The ship’s itinerary was a day at sea, so there was little we could do to help.
After a while I received a call from the vet. She reported that after cleaning the wound, giving Jax antibiotics and pain meds he should be able to stop limping and he should be healed. To lessen the burden on my friends, we appealed to the hospital to keep Jax overnight. I called the hospital at night to check on Jax. A different doctor worked the night shift and returned our call at 10:30 PM.She told us that the wound was deeper than originally thought and some of the skin looks necrotic. The earlier prognosis was so different that she blew my mind. In return I asked the doctor if she was saying that my dog needed to be put down? There was no answer.
My brain was off, and my body was shaking. There was no decision being made that night. When I laid down my problem-solving skills resurfaced. I realized the issue was simple. If Jax was not able to recover, then I would have to accept the end-of-life sentence. However, if he could recover, then we would have to go home. At 7:30 am we contacted the hospital again. This time I reached the morning vet. She conveyed that Jax will require lots of care but was not a candidate to be put down.
At this point we were docked in Cozumel, Mexico. We got permission to leave the ship and immigration escorted us off. To fly out of Cancun, we had to take a 45-minute ferry ride to a one-hour taxi ride. Once we arrived at the airport, we found out our newly booked flight was delayed four hours. When we landed the wait at customs was 90 minutes. Thankfully, our driver was there to pick us up and we got home.at 1:00 am.
I am a huge dog lover and I do not feel bad missing my cruise. We had travel insurance, but an ill pet does not qualify as a reason to interrupt your trip. No money was recovered for either my cruise or flights. I added an extra drink package with gratuities and two paid for restaurants, when we arrived on the ship. Princess would not even refund us for these extras. The bill at the Vet Hospital was $4,000. Our new air itinerary cost another $1500. Jax is part of the family, and we did what you would do for any family member. My hope is that businesses respect the importance of a pet and consider compensation accordingly.
